This auction is for a rare, authentic mono copy of the American Beatles LP 'Introducing the Beatles'.
The story behind this LP is very interesting. I highly recommend you read up on it at its Wikipedia article.
When this LP was original manufactured, VeeJay were about to undergo a label change where their older Oval logo was to be replaced with their Brackets logo. The Oval logo presses of this LP are the earlier presses and are pretty hard to find, but it transpired that during the crossover from Oval to Brackets there seems to have been a mismatch in label designs in the machines, resulting in this nice little anomaly!
Introducing the Beatles is one of the most counterfeited LPs of all time. However, this is a 100% authentic, genuine pressing. Nearly every fake lists the Version 1 songs whilst nearly every genuine copy lists the version 2 songs. Nearly every fake was printed as stereo whereas most mono copies are genuine. This copy has the right colour hue, it has George's shadow, it has the 1/4" internal overflaps at the top and bottom of the mouth (on fakes this overflap is much longer) and the back passes the 'Honey' test (fakes have a chunk of the H in Honey missing). The deadwax on the record is less than 1" thick and carries the 'Audiomatrix' machine stamp (fakes have a deadwax larger than 1" and nearly all do not have this stamp) and the credit 'The Beatles' is above the spindlehole. On every fake this credit is below the spindlehole!
This particular pressing, based on it's label style, was printed at Southern Plastics Inc. in Tennessee It's Spizer / Cox indentification number is VJ 1062 (2).MR2C (for Side 1) and VJ 1062 (2).MR1A (for Side 2)

The cover is holding up well with some light, general wear and tear. The front cover has a lovely colour to it with some light rubbing and wear, but nothing at all serious as you can see. 'WBT' has been written in small letters in the top right corner. Top seam is holding okay with a little paper wear and tear but the seam itself is holding with no splits. The bottom, again, is showing some paper wear - a little more than the top seam - with some wear and tears but no splitting. The spine is holding really well with no paper wear or tears and no splitting, and is fully legible from top to bottom! The back has yellowed a little and has light, brown spotting all over. There's some light disc impression and a little wear, but mostly it's just cosmetic with no real physical damage to the back. Overall, holding okay. Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : GOOD

The playing surface has a nice shine to it but is covered in light scuffing and a fair amount of light, slightly heavier looking scuffs and marks. A few of these small marks are feeable under the fingernail.

The labels are looking slightly tired but are pretty clean with fully legible silver text, some light, moderate spindlewear and a little whitening around the centrehole. Decent labels!
