Beatles Authentic 1966 Peeled Mono 3rd State Butcher Cover
A Great Holiday Gift For Any Beatles Fan !!
One of the nicest professional peels I have had in a long time ! This is one of those jackets that has a near first state appearance. Please examine the many photos I have posted for an idea of the overall quality of this gem.Those tell tale Scranton factory horizontal lines or residue left by the glue application process are very light. The Capitol factory in 1966 used one of the lower cut Butcher Slicks on this which reveals part of the bench beneath John's knees. You only occasionally see this and it makes this one that much more special. Compared to what is out there in the $500 to $700 range, this blows away what you usually see .
The top and bottom seams present well but not 100% perfect with what looks like a few inches of seam crack /wear (cleanly glued) on top and a bit over an inch on bottom right end. Neither of these looks like much to fret about. The spine is also fairly complete with some checking /cracking, but most all of the printing is there. There is a teenie chip of paper loss on the very bottom of the spine. The back shows light wear with a few areas of abrasion on the middle left side and top, possibly where a stain or writing was removed.
Near Mint Peeled mono Butcher Covers can sell for as high as $1200 or even $1600 or more if they are really nice. I have often seen poorly peeled mono' covers of lesser condition sell for the $600 to $900 range. This is a guaranteed original 1966 Capitol 3rd state mono Butcher cover. Also, this album cover comes with the peeled trunk slick in condition as shown (wear and tear,some pen marking), mono Scranton pressing in G to VG- condition w/correct original factory inner sleeve. Please note that the John Lennon t-shirt seen in the background is NOT INCLUDED in this auction !
