Description
Original Vee Jay Records version 2 "Introducing The Beatles" LP. Released Feb. 1964 (not in 1963 as some believe). Spizer version VJ 1062(2).MR2D(i). Manufactured under Vee Jay contract by ARC. This LP was heavily counterfeited in the late 1960s and 1970s.. this one is the real deal and passes all of the authenticity tests. I have sold many copies of this LP over the years so I instantly know a fake copy when I see it. No writing, no water or mold stains.
I use the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition). These grading standards tend to be more stringent (and, due to this, are graded slightly lower) than Goldmine. See my various photos of the cover and record. I grade conservatively using a bright light so the buyer knows exactly what they are bidding on.
Records - VG
Several scattered thin shallow scratches (many call these hairlines or angel hairs) and minor rubs. No large scratches or ones that are obvious when first looking at the vinyl. Most of the light marks can only really seen by holding the vinyl up to very bright light at the right angle. Record plays cleanly through with no skips or other issues, though. The labels have no writing. the record still shines. The master that was used to press this LP was manufactured on 2-6-64 as seen etched in the runout. Brackets VJ logo on the labels.
Cover - VG+
The cover is in very nice shape. The cardboard is very study and shiny. Very minor corning bumping at a few corners. The bottom right corner has a small amount of damage (see photo) along the seam just below "LP 1062". If not for this damage, the cover would grade NM-. Upper right right corner has a "C" quality control stamp on it as was common from a few of the contract manufacturers of this LP.
LP will be shipped in a rigid cardboard mailer for protection; I ship the vinyl outside of the cover in order to protect the cover during shipment. Payment is due within 3 days of the auction's end. Great piece of rock and roll history! Please see my other Beatles items for sale.
