Beatles - The Collection - Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) Box Set - MINT
The holy grail of audiophile rock, Mobile Fidelity's 'Beatles - The Collection' box set needs no introduction and is extremely rare and hard to find. Arguably the greatest sounding releases of the Beatles albums ever, these pressings sound considerably better than the standard LP or CD releases! All 13 albums in this box set were mastered at half speed from the original master tapes, and pressed onto pure super vinyl by JVC, which has an extraordinarily quiet playing surface, extreme durability and a lifespan many times exceeding conventional pressings. The vinyl is so pure that its translucent when held up to the light. In direct comparison to standard releases, each pressing has far superior dynamic range, top-end, better stereo separation and sounds much fresher and full of life!
This box set was purchased in 1982 and kept as an archive example. As such, all LPs are unplayed and MINT- condition. I rarely grade mint unless an item is sealed, but in this case can make an exception. Each LP is pristine. The sleeves are all near mint (NM), each including a photo of the master tape box, which includes notes on the recording and mastering! The sleeves also includes cardboard inner protectors and rice paper anti static inner-sleeves. The box is also near mint (NM) condition with a couple of minor blemishes that can be seen in the photo (but considerably better than many other examples - with perfect hinges, working catch and no corner scuffs!). This is as close to new as one is likely to find. Box also includes the famous Mobile Fidelity alignment tool, the Geodisc (NM) and the Artbook (NM), which contains information about the mastering and the artwork from all the albums (which was never available separately).
With sealed boxes having sold for mega bucks when seen 'in a blue moon', this is a rare opportunity to buy an unplayed and NM example for a reasonable price, either to enjoy for the unrivalled quality of each LP master or as an ideal future investment.
