Description

BEATLES UK, A Hard Days Night, McCarthey error, ridged/textured labels 1964 UK mono LP.

PMC 1230, original black and yellow Parlophone record labels.

A very unusual copy, as the record features four hard to find variants, and I've not seen or heard of another copy like this.

A UK LP in original condition, featuring:

1. unusual record labels as side one features a 'circular indentation', and on side two the record label features a more 'prominent ridge'. Only a very small number of these 'indented/ridge' record labels were manufactured and it is not completely clear of their origins,

2. a rare mis press record label on side one, as the spelling of, ’McCartney’ has been mis spelt as ‘McCarthey’, with an ‘h’ and not with an ‘n’ !. The record label on side two is spelt correctly,

3. each of the record labels feature an unusual 'tactile, textured' surface. Regular copies of this LP always featured 'smooth/satin' finish record labels. The origins of these 'tactile, textured' record labels are unknown,

4. unusual record label variant as each record label features the, ‘Roman’ font letter style,

5. comes with its original 'Patent applied for', inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The spine is in very good+ condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the period original UK tri 'flip back' design, ie fold over edges. Theres NO pen writing, tears or stickers on the sleeve. On the front , top right there is some old sticker residue and on the rear, lower there is evidence of where an old sticker once was.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition and is the original period ‘Patent applied for’ inner sleeve. The original inner sleeve is made of the period, quality, heavy grade paper. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a slight split to the two side edges and to the bottom edge.

THE RECORD: side one is in good++ condition, side two is in near very good condition. The record has remained dark and glossy.

The records matrix are: XEX 481 3N and XEX 482 3N,

The mother/stampers are: 3 ALP and 4 AOG.

THE AUDIO: side one, tracks six and seven play with 'crackle' and 'ticks', so I will grade these two tracks as playing 'good++', the rest of side one plays very good with 'crackle' and 'ticks'. Side two plays very good with 'crackle' and 'ticks'. The record lays flat on the turntable and plays with a full powerful period mono sound.

THE RECORD LABELS: each of the record labels are in very good++ condition. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. Each of the record labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.
