BEATLES UK, Revolver, 606/1, ‘remix 11’, original first UK mono issue.

PMC 7009, original 1966 black and yellow Parlophone labels.

A first UK mono issue in original condition, featuring:

1. these first UK mono 2/1 matrix records were withdrawn from sale in the UK after the wrong mono ‘mix’ of the track ‘Tomorrow never knows’ appeared on side two, using the ‘1’ matrix. Now referred to as the ‘remix 11’, the famous story goes that John Lennon discovered that his preferred ‘mix’ of this track had not been used on the album. So production was stopped and attempts were made to try and withdraw the 2/1 matrix records that had been issued, but this decision didn’t stop ‘some’ copies of the 2/1 matrix records getting out into the shops. The albums matrix was soon replaced with the more familiar 2/2 matrix records,

2. earliest mono label on side two as it features the spelling of ‘Dr’ Robert. A similar storey happened with the spelling of this track. John Lennon thought that it was more appropriate to have the ‘Doctor’ spelling rather than the ‘Dr’ spelling, so attempts were made to replace the ‘Dr’ spelling with the ‘Doctor’ spelling. This correction soon began to appear on the label. Possibly due to printing cost implications, the spelling on the rear of the sleeve was never corrected to read, ‘Doctor’ !,

3. each record label has an unusual ‘texture surface’ around the spindle hole, up to the labels ‘ring’, beyond the ‘ring the labels have the regular ‘smooth’ finish,

4. the mono logo on the front of the sleeve has been printed more over to the left.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. This laminate has remained very clean and glossy. The front of the sleeve has remained still quite white in colour for its age. The two opening edges of the sleeve have remained sharp for their age. The spine is in very good++ condition and has remained clean and white in colour and all the text is clear to read on the spine. The rear features the original 1960s style ‘tri-flip back’, fold over edges design. The rear of the sleeve has remained very clean and relatively ‘scuff’ free for its age. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original period, 1966 EMI plain white inner sleeve with the text ‘Patents applied for’. The two opening edges of the inner sleeve have remained very clean. A very clean and well preserved inner sleeve. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve.

THE RECORD: is in very good++ condition. It is made of the period 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained dark and glossy.

The matrix are, side one: XEX 605 - 2 and side two: XEX 606 – 1, side two features the ‘withdrawn’ mix of the track ‘Tomorrow never knows’, known as the ‘remix 11’.

The mother/stampers are: ‘1 R H’ and ‘3 M O’,

THE AUDIO: is very good++, it plays with some ‘crackle’, ‘pops’ and light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. The record lays flat on the turntable. The record plays with a loud, full period mono sound.

THE LABELS: are in very good++ condition. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
