Description

Here is a lovely copy of the much sought after Butcher Cover.  This is the mono version originally released by Capitol Records in 1966.  This is a very clean 2nd state copy, with Ringo's black "V" clearly visible.  The record label # is T 2553.   The RIAA number on the back cover is 6.   I grade using the Goldmine Record Grading Outlines:

  • Very Good (VG)   Generally worth 25 percent of Near Mint value. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.

The record has been graded VG as it definitely shows signs of wear but overall plays very nicely.  No skips, just some surface noise evident in between tracks.  The cover has been graded VG as well.  Overall it looks very nice, but it also definitely has some signs of wear.  Other than the normal discolorations from age, there are two very small tears just to the right of the title on the front cover, visible in the photos.  Other than that, it looks good.  No seam splits or writing at all and the title on the spine is still very clear.  Also of note, on this pressing you can actually see the original cover on the front, left-hand side, where it peeks out from underneath the paste-over.  Also, be aware that this copy does not include the original inner-sleeve, just a plain white one (again, visible in photos).
