Up for auction: The Beatles "Yesterday And Today" LP cover. Butcher cover third state REPRODUCTION. Stereo, Capitol Records ST 2553. RIAA 5. Cover only, NO RECORD is included.
This is what appears to be, at first, a third state stereo Butcher Cover with an excellent peel. Front cover slick is textured. There are some small paper tears on the front as well as glue residue. (Please see the photos!) There are also some small stains on the back cover. Overall excellent condition.
However, upon close inspection, I believe this is a very clever REPRODUCTION. Two reasons: the seams and spine are almost perfect, you would expect to see some damage from when the trunk cover was peeled off. Also, the cover looks and feels much heavier than a standard Capitol Records LP jacket. It doesn't appear that this cover ever housed a record, the inside of the cover is clean.
To be clear: I believe this is a REPRODUCTION, not an original Butcher cover and it is being sold as such.
Whoever made this went through a lot of trouble, especially with the glue and paper loss on the front. Incredibly well done.
