The soundtrack of an extraordinary scene that came to exist in 1930's Greece, this compilation of songs painstakingly remastered from an original series of 78s were what was known as Havagies - a melding of Hawaian steel guitar music and rebeltka sounds that still maintains a haunting allure some eighty years on. Besos himself, a political cartoonist and surrealist, was nothing if not a stick in the wheel of the establishment, and the emotional and boisterous art he created - chronicled by a 32-page booklet here- is brimming with insouciant chutzpah and vitality.
