BILL SWIFT TRIO + 1 - featuring Drenda Barnett This album came to light about two years ago via the digging talents of the guys at Rehash in TX. Private press LP from 1972 that was only ever available in a plain white sleeve. No label name. This album was only ever sold in person by Bill Swift from the very stage at the club where they were resident in Fort Worth TX. No copies ever made it to stores, and none saw any kind of distribution. Music comprises of wicked funky Hammond, guitar, flute and some incredible soulful jazz vocals from Drenda Barnett that conjure up images of Spanky Wilson and Marlena Shaw in full flow and at their very best! 'Chain of Fools' is awesome, a full 5 minutes of full-on funky soul jazz with everyone stretching out and does not let up - 'Why do you do me this way' is an original that stays in the same groove while Aretha's 'Daydreamin' is pure bliss - this song should have gone big!
