BLUES BROTHERS RIAA Platinum Record Award 1978 BRIEFCASE FULL OF BLUES.

Blues Brothers Briefcase Full of Blues RIAA Platinum Album Sales Award (Atlantic, 1978). Containing the smash hit single "Soul Man" and reaching the top of the Billboard 200 album charts in 1979, Briefcase Full of Blues launched the Blues Brothers into the mainstream pop-culture consciousness, where the characters remain to this day. According to the plaque below the platinum disc, this award was "Presented to JERRY BRENNER to Commemorate the Sale of More Than 1,000,000 Copies of the Atlantic Records Long-Playing Record Album 'Briefcase Full of Blues'."    Here you see the album celebrated with an Authentic, First Awarded, First State platinum LP ‘Floater’, the RIAA award format from 1975 to 1981), in which the disc, presentation plate, and mini, appear to “float” off the matte. Hence the name Floater. Framed to 17" x 21".

Very Good condition, exhibiting minor wear. There is a small scratch on the plexiglass protecting the award (as noted on one of the pictures)

Briefcase of Blues is the debut album by “The Blues Brothers” released on November 28, 1978, by Atlantic Records. It was recorded live on September 9, 1978, at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles, when the band opened for comedian Steve Martin. The album consists of covers of blues and soul songs from the 1950s to 1970s. The album reached number one on the Billboard charts and eventually went double platinum, according to Blues Brothers member Dan Aykroyd, the album has sold 3.5 million copies in all. It is among the highest-selling blues albums of all time. JERRY BRENNER the recipient of this award was an uber successful talent agent in the music industry at that time and represented Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi as the “Blues Brothers”.
