Bluesberry Jam - Sunset Sound Recorders acetate LP, late `60s Condition: I'd say G+ Most tracks play pretty well, but the disc has got some problems. It's very scratchy, but plays better (some tracks MUCH better) than it looks but some tracks (not all) do skip. Given that this is an acetate and the playing surface is pretty rough, how the record plays could vary quite a bit from one turntable/cart/stylus to another. For those willing to take the time, some skips might be fixable by rewinding or using a fine blade (it's easier to do this with an acetate than with regular vinyl) but I'm not about to try it myself. While there are LOTS of scratches, the tracks are still enjoyable, and the acetate does NOT play with the distortion or dullness common to worn acetates. Please note thaI this item is non-returnable. I have put what I feel is a reasonable reserve price on this.
The long sound clip plays samples of most songs. I've put "Get It Together" first because it's the heaviest funk jam on the record. The music is a smokin' combination of jazzy funk and psych rock with some tasty guitar solos. Killer production and arrangements. Members of Bluesberry Jam went on to play with Pacific Gas & Electric and Canned Heat. I'm assuming it's the same band (by the way, there is also a current jam band of that name, no relation.)
