Original pressing of Annette # 1000. Not a reissue, recent pressing, fake, counterfeit, etc. If you've been collecting records for very long at all you already know all about this LEGENDARY record. If you're a Cher or Phil Spector fan you certainly should know about it, ditto if you collect Beatles-related tribute and novelty records. A few of the things going for it are: classic Phil Spector production, one of only a couple releases on his label (named after Annette, Spector's first wife); one of the BEST Beatle novelties from the classic year of Beatlemania (1964); it borrows the 'Yeah yeah Yeah' part from "I Want To Hold Your Hand"; and it's Cher's very first release! I think Cher only got to do this one because at the time she was dating Spector's protege Sonny Bono. Cher's voice is very recognizable. And surprisingly for Spector, in keeping with the Beatles theme this one is very guitar-based.

This has been a big-deal collectable almost since it came out, and many people with no interest in the above angles, but who simply look for the rarest of the rare in records, lust after it. It sold so poorly that it's easier to find on white label promo than it is on stock red label! Although that's a relative term, as neither pressing is EASY to find. This is the only copy I've ever had, or seen in person.

CONDITION:

VINYL: The average person (non-record collector) would probably look at it and say 'wow, this is in EXCELLENT condition!' Dedicated record collectors have more exacting standards, so here's a more detailed breakdown for condition:

Vinyl (visually graded): Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) The Ringo side is an average (very nice!) VG++. The Beatle Blues side a STRONG VG++. If anything I'm undergrading it... I was tempted to give the 'Beatle Blues' side my NM- grade.
Vinyl (play graded): Near Mint Minus (NM -). It seems to be fairly low quality vinyl - a Spector specialty - yet it plays NM on each side, with any minor surface noise present being completely the result of the vinyl used.

Labels: Beatle Blues side is NM. Ringo side has two flaws, the initials BS written, and a number sticker is attached (I don't think it's removeable). A piece of scotch tape must have been put over it at one point, now long gone it left a stain behind. All this is visible in the photos.


Conservatively graded, under very revealing spotlights. Please check our feedback before bidding! Visually graded. NM is usually my highest grade but I rarely use it for 45s unless they're visually perfect (and virtually unplayed). NM- is what I mostly use for real clean 45s which the average person would call "like new". For the lower grades, if they look questionable, I'll playtest them and mention it.
