Description

THE BEATLES - 'A HARD DAY'S NIGHT'

1964 UK 1st *STEREO* PRESSING LP

**EARLIEST POSSIBLE COPY'**

With its 1/G, 1/G mother/stampers, this copy can rightly claim to be one of the first 3-500 copies ever pressed.

This superb 1964 1st STEREO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 3058
Both labels carry the early 'chubby' style font with the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Parlophone Co..' rims.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible around the centre hole of the side 2 label.

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' cover with the 'mid-sized' stereo logo.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: YEX 126-1 & YEX 127-1
Stamper numbers: 1/G & 1/G
Disc weight: 151g

Labels: NEAR MINT

A superior set with just two or three spindle trails around either centre hole but no other faults.

Visual: EXCELLENT

This barely played copy is in remarkable condition. Both surfaces retain their original deep-gloss, 'as new' shines with no clouding or dull patches from incorrect or improper storage.
The only significant marks in daylight are a single long but light fingernail scuff line on side 1 and another insignificant small light surface mark - both of these are non-feelable and non-audible.
Close and careful inspection directly under my halogen desk lamp reveals a pin-head sized 'bump' on track 4 of side 1 which is clearly a manufacturing defect but there is no further wear to be seen on this impressive copy.
Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs or dishing or warping.

Audio: NEAR MINT

This incredible sounding copy which plays beautifully and does not disappoint in any way.
All tracks sparkle & play 'as new' with no wear on any track or in any channel.
Apart from 4 dull pops on 'I'm Happy Just To Dance With You' (due to the aforementioned bump), the entire disc is faultless and sounds 'as new'.
Both run-ins and all bands play silently and without any intereference.
I guarantee that you will not find a better sounding copy.

Cover: EXCELLENT

An extremely clean and firm example with just some light storagewear but no significant or major faults.
The front panel retains its high-gloss laminate with just four small 'thumbnail' creases towards the opening edge but no ringwear, rubbing or any other significant or major signs of wear.
There is slight shelfwear rubbing to the lower corners but no major bumps or bruises to any. The front opening edge shows a touch of light wear but there are no tears or feathering, front or rear.
The rear panel is clean and white with just a tiny age-spot in the 2nd column of the text but there are no other marks or any writing or missing paper.
All flipbacks are perfectly intact, clean and undamaged and both seams are strong, unstressed and unsplit.
The spine is clean and unsquashed with a perfectly worded text.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT PLUS

Crisp, clean & white with just some light storagewear but no splits, tears or other faults.
