Description
Here’s a beautifully kept original 1964 copy of this extremely rare BBC transcription LP. The catalog is identified on the labels as Top of the Pops episode #00, but it contains the Beatles’ July 16, 1964 appearance on the Top Gear program, a sort of late-night cousin to Top of the Pops, consisting of all live performances (and not to be confused with the later BBC TV car show of the same name). This episode includes a jaunty interview that doesn’t appear in its entirety on any official release, a live performance of “A Hard Day’s Night” with some hilarious extended banter at the end that fades out early on 1994’s Live at the BBC (“...someone throw Ringo a banana...”), and live performances of “Things We Said Today” and “Long Tall Sally.” It also includes interviews and performances by Dusty Springfield and the beat group Brian Poole & The Tremeloes. This copy is exceptionally clean and includes the original printed BBC paper jacket. It’s in VG++ or EX condition with a few faint sleeve marks and excellent playback throughout. Very few copies exist and only a handful have surfaced. The audio linked below comes directly from this copy:
