Description
The Beatles' very first Stereo press of the very first LP, Please Please Me, was twice the price and released 6 weeks later than the Mono, and wouldn't have mattered as no one had Stereo equipment until 1966/7 anyway. Stereo was for Classical and the like for rich posh people at that stage, hence why so few of these exist. Estimated press is about 900 and that's probably about right. Pressed in 3 configurations with the Dick James credits, G/R, R/G and A/R, this has the very first G/R stampers and by that definition is one of the 1st 300. Graded at VG+/VG, it retains it's shine and hasn't been abused or played to death though has one very careless skate mark seen quite clearly in several photos of side 2. Luckily this is superficial and doesn't affect the playback quality in any way.
No skips, repeats or jumps. No writing on the label nor the sleeves. Outer sleeve is the 1st edition type as it should be with the McBean credit bottom far right. Again graded a nice VG condition, which is decent as these sleeves as made of flimsy card/paper and didn't hold up too well and are very rare to see an Ex or NM example (usually accompanied by a near unplayed disk at around £12-15K!) Comes with the correct EMITEX inner sleeve (not shown).
