Hey Jude was released by Apple UK in 1968. Interest was understandably high for The Beatles FIRST UK Apple Single and therefore EMI found it difficult to keep up with the demand for what was to become yet another Beatles No 1 Hit. As a result they asked the PHILIPS UK Record pressing plant to run of a SMALL BATCH to help keep up with the demand.
As you will see from the detailed scans provided there is a DISTINCT difference between the regular EMI record label of 'Hey Jude' and the RARE Philips contract pressing. The Record label of the Philips version displays THREE Prongs with a wider gap around the middle, whereas the regular EMI version has the usual four prongs with a narrower gap.
This Original UK Contract Vinyl 45 is on the Custom Dark Green APPLE Label, with 'Sold in UK….' and 'Mfd. In UK' Label text.
The Official Side 1 matrix: 7XCE 21185-1, Side 2: 7XCE 21186-1. Side 1 stampers: 'KT/1/8'. Side 2: 'KT/2/3'.
The Rarity comes in an ORIGINAL UK Glossy Black APPLE Bag with Green Apple Logo.
Both sides of the Three Prong Record labels are in PRESERVED near mint condition, a great NEW LOOKING set of record labels with no more than just One or two very faint and hardly visible spider trails. Both sides of the vinyl disc are near mint, CLEAN, UNWORN, NEW looking Vinyl surfaces. The ORIGINAL Glossy Black Paper APPLE bag is in HIGHLY RESPECTABLE Shape, no tearing or writing, showing only minimal light creasing.
BOTH sides of the Vinyl disc play PERFECT.
