VERY CLEAN, IMPRESSIVE EXAMPLE, RARE THIRD PRESSING FROM 1964, WITH SOLD IN UK LABEL TEXT AND WITH RINGO ON DRUMS AND NO TAMBOURINE VERSION

Summary:

The First pressing of Beatles DEBUT Single, ‘LOVE ME DO/PS I LOVE YOU’ was released by EMI/Parlophone UK in on 5 October 1962 on the RED Parlophone Label. In January 1963, Parlophone ceased production of its Red label, moving over to a BLACK Parlophone label, and a SECOND pressing of ‘Love Me Do’ was issued on the newly designed Black Parlophone Label, with the ‘Parlophone Co Ltd’ rim in Upper and Lowercase, and omitting the ’45’ prefix.

The one featured here is the VERY SCARCE THIRD Pressing, released in 1964, on the BLACK AND SILVER PARLOPHONE LABEL, with the newly introduced ‘SOLD IN UK….’ label text. This version is the same as the Original 1962 First recording of LOVE ME DO/PS I LOVE YOU with RINGO ON DRUMS, and NO TAMBOURINE. Please note the 1964 Third pressing was a VERY LIMITED RUN at the time and is difficult to find in the all round IMPRESSIVE condition of the one listed here.

Detailed Description/Condition:

RARE, THIRD Pressing of The Beatles DEBUT single ‘LOVE ME DO/PS I LOVE YOU’, released by Parlophone UK in 1964 on the BLACK Parlophone Label with Silver Printed text, and with ‘The Parlophone Co Ltd’ label rim (in Upper and Lower case), With ‘Recording First Published 1962’, With ‘Ardmore & Beechwood Ltd’ publishing credits, and WITH the wording ‘Sold in UK subject to re-sale price conditions see price lists’ printed to both sides across the centre of the record labels. This RARE version features Ringo on Drums and NO tambourine.

Both sides of the Record Labels are in SUPER CLEAN excellent plus condition. This is a FINE, UNDAMAGED set of record labels, with NO fading to the Silver Printed text, and showing no more than a few light centre spider trails. There is NO handwriting or soiling to either side of the labels.

Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in STRONG excellent condition, with just some light non sounding surface hairlines to both sides of the VERY BRIGHT vinyl surfaces, but no deep scratches or scuffs.

Side 1 stamped matrix is: 7XCE 17144-1N. Side 2: 7XCE-17145-1N.
Side 1 stampers: MPZT/1/AD. Side 2: MPZT/1/RH.
There is an embossed KT tax/price code to the centre side 1 record label.

Audio Quality:

Both sides of the disc plays EXTREMELY WELL, with just the mildest of background crackle. There are NO skips to either track.

The Vinyl 45 comes in its ORIGINAL and CORRECT Green Parlophone Printed Company Bag which is in STRONG excellent condition. This is an IMPRESSIVE Original Parlophone bag, free from any tearing, or seam splitting, with only some light, inevitable, creasing and a couple of small brown age spots to the reverse.

Overall a HIGHLY RESPECTABLE example of this HARD TO FIND BLACK Parlophone Label variant of The Beatles FIRST UK Parlophone Single.
