The Beatles – A Hard Day’s Night – Genuine 1964 UK 1st pressing– The very earliest 1st issue with chunky typeface labels and yellow & Black Parlophone rim labels, ‘Recording First Published…’ and with ‘Sold in UK’ Catalogue number PMC 1230. Pressed on or before 10th July 1964 release date.
A superb copy of this the earliest UK 1st pressing.
The record is the earliest 1st pressing with the broader and chunkier label typeface. ( For reference see page 168 ’The Beatles For Sale on Parlophone Record’s by Bruce Spizer & Frank Daniels)
A seminal album and one of their best - ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ was the first album where artist and composer wrote and performed all their songs.
Matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N & XEX 482-3N (Please note – 1N & -2N were not used on any mono UK 1st press HDN issue)

Visual: Side 1: MINT- Side 2: EXC+ to MINT-
A really beautiful looking disc. Side one appears MINT when viewed in strong daylight, even under a strong halogen desklight nothing is revealed other than the faintest of sleeve removal marks. Extremely close to an all out MINT grade. Side two appears near MINT in strong daylight. On close inspection under halogen light the occasional light surface mark becomes visible when angled towards the light. Side two grades between excellent+ and nr MINT. The heavyweight vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXC+to MINT-
A great set of these the earliest variation with the chunky typeface labels which indicate this is a genuine UK 1st pressing. Both labels are unworn with only minor spindle trails. I would estimate that the record has only received about a dozen careful plays in its 53 year history, an astonishingly low amount for a Beatles record of this vintage. Side one has the KT tax code.
Audio: MINT
A stunning audiophile copy which grades at MINT. All tracks sound amazing with all the analogue richness and clarity of the original EMI master tapes. If I Fell and Things We Said have outstanding clarity as do all other tracks. This copy will not disappoint. There are no pops or ticks and the record does not jump or stick.
Cover
EXCELLENT+
A superb example of this rarer UK 1st issue E J Day cover. Nothing much to fault other than a scuff mark on Lennon’s photo –top row second in, which prevents a near mint grade. The back panel is in astonishing condition, very clean with no writing or any signs of ageing, grades at MINT-, very close to an all out MINT grade. The spine is in beautiful pristine condition.
