The Beatles – A Hard Day’s Night – Genuine 1964 UK 1st pressing– The very earliest 1st issue with chunky typeface labels and yellow & Black Parlophone rim labels, ‘Recording First Published…’ and with ‘Sold in UK’ Catalogue number PMC 1230 and with the ultra rare MT tax code.

A remarkably fresh copy which has only been played 5 or 6 times since new!

A seminal album and one of their best - ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ was the first album where artist and composer wrote and performed all their songs.

CONDITION

Disc

Visual: Side 1 MINT-   Side 2 EXCELLENT+

The disc has all of its original rainbow sheen and can only have been played a few times since new.  Side 1 is completely unmarked and is virtually mint with only the faintest of whispy sleeve removal marks visible under halogen light. Side two has some light sleeve removal marks which are visible in strong daylight. The disc lies 100% flat on the turntable.

Labels: EXC+/MINT-  

A great set of fresh looking labels on this the earliest chunky type face. Some evidence of light spindle trails but these are an extremely impressive set of this early variation. The ultra rare MT tax code is visible on side 1.

Audio: MINT-

An outstanding audiophile copy which is very difficult to fault. There is no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. All the music is totally undistorted with amazing clarity and power so associated with these very early pressings. Occasional light surface noise in the odd gap but most gaps are completely silent. Tracks such as ‘If I Fell’, ‘And I Love Her’ and ‘Things We Said’ have breathtaking audio as do all the other tracks. Needless to say the record does not jump or stick.

MINT-

A very early 1964 EJ Day cover in simply astonishing condition. It still retains it factory freshness and looks like it left the shop yesterday. The construction of these EJ Day covers made them more susceptible to wear, so it is quite remarkable that this cover has survived in such beautiful condition. The front panel retains it freshness and has very little to fault. 

The rear panel looks as new and is free from any soiling or writing. All flipbacks are intact. There is a laminate crease on the flipback on the bottom right corner which appears to have been done during manufacture. With the exception of only one or two very minor imperfections this sleeve is only a whisker away from an all out MINT grade and could be seen as a final upgrade. In short, E J Day covers in this condition are exceptionally scarce and rarely turn up at auction.
