Description

THE BEATLES - 'LOVE ME DO'/'P.S. I LOVE YOU

1962 UK *DEMONSTRATION* 45

A rare example of the earliest Beatles demo Love Me Do/PS I Love You. Only 250 copies of this white label were pressed and not all have survived making this the perfect Christmas gift for the Beatles fan who has everything.

This record features the correct oversize labels which cover the serrated rim of the vinyl. The label on the Love Me Do side features a red ‘A’ and the words ‘Demonstration, Not For Sale’. Importantly, Paul McCartney’s name is misspelled as McArtney. Matrix numbers are 7XCE17145 – 1N and 7XCE17144-1N.  Label 45-R 4949.

Condition:

Label – good/fair

The Label is in good/fair condition with no rips or tears, though is not the bright white it would have been on manufacture. On the Love Me Do side it has the name HARRIS and the date 5/10/62 written on it in pen and a small asterisk in pencil. On the PS I Love You side it has a small black mark above the Parlophone logo. Please refer to photos.

Disc – visual- very good

The disc still retains a deep gloss. Careful inspection revealed no deep scratches or blemishes though it has several hairline scratches consistent with normal turntable play. The disc lies flat with no sign of warping or any other damage. The disc was professionally cleaned immediately prior to listing.

Disc – Play – Very good/good

The disc has had moderate and careful play over the years. A recent test listen revealed no jumps or skips though significant pops and surface noise on the Love Me Do side. The PS I Love You side is in generally better condition so still suffers a small amount of pops and surface noise. Overall though the disc is still a pleasure to listen to

Case – Unfortunately the disc does not still have its original case though it has been stored over the years in good quality card sleeve and will be offered for sale in a brand new, plain card sleeve.

This is a good/very good example of one of the rarest Beatles records and an ideal opportunity to make someone’s Christmas. Genuine/serious bids only please. Item will be shipped by Royal Mail Special Delivery/International Signed-For and insured up to a suitable amount.
