NOTE TO 'WATCHERS' Feel free to watch rather than bid, but I'm selling a lot and quickly. If anything I list gets sold privately or through other channels I will end the auction early regardless of how many watching the auction. I won't end an eBay auction early if there has been a bid!
ABOUT THIS ITEM Rare Australian Only Box Set.
Celebrating the (global) 20th anniversary of The Beatles first single, a lot of countries celebrated by re-releasing the singles, often on the 20th anniversary so that the full set took many years to complete. The box sets were released complete in 1982 or 83. The actual 20th anniversary of Love Me Do in Australia would have been 1983, anyway...
A rare set, especially as in Australia they went the whole hog and included singles released after the band split up, so it's 34 records (UK was 22)
What makes the Aussie box so really special is that every sleeve has two pictures from the 1964 down-under tour. Getting soaked at the airport, rubbing noses with maoris, waving from Adelaide Town Hall etc.
There are variations it seems. All of the singles are on silver/black Parlophone labels - except Rock And Roll Music is on the orange labels, and The Ballad Of John & Yoko is on Apple. Looking around some of the blogs and collector sites there are sets that are all silver/black and there are some with more than one Apple label. I just opened the cellophane after all this time to be nosy, so there's no chance any have been swapped, they're just pot-luck.
As such, all singles are unplayed, all sleeves are mint. The box is mint. It can fade if left in the sun, but this one has been stored and looks like it did 35 years ago.
Before any packaging, this weighs 1.5kg, I will post with tracking - or if you prefer with insurance. Please wait for a final invoice after working out the best postage for wherever you are
ABOUT THE SELLER I've been collecting Beatles stuff since the end of 1980. When John Lennon was murdered the TV and radio had his songs and The Beatles on repeat for a month. As a 9 year old it was like my 1964. That Christmas I got a 'Best Of' and a couple of others, and every Christmas, birthday etc I added to the collection.
The collection now takes up a spare room and I'm having a cull. There are over 500 books, 1000+ records, signed items, rarities and...well, if you got this far you're probably in a similar position and can imagine.
I've been on eBay since 2003 when I needed a ticket for Concert For George. My account is under the name mearsi. That account has great feedback and postive rating. I just opened this new account as a seller purely to list The Beatles stuff. If you like other music, old and new, my mearsi account has it. I can combine postage if you win multiple items
