1963 UK '2nd' MONO PRESSING LP
**'NORTHERN SONGS' BLACK & GOLD LABELS**
This superb 1963 mono '2nd' pressing is on the UK black & gold Parlophone label: PMC 1202
The labels have the correct 'Northern Songs' publishing credits for songs: 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2.
The 'MT' tax/price code visible in the centre of the side 2 label.
Housed in a correct, front laminated, tri-flipback 'E.J. Day' printed mono cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme right-hand corner.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 1/GP & 1,2/GH

A beautiful bright bold set, with no touch-up or missing paper.
Visual: VERY GOOD PLUS
Both surfaces are extremely clean, glossy & undulled by groove-whitening from overplay or improper long-term storage.
Viewed directly in strong daylight an occaisional light fingernail scuff and hairline scratch is visible but nothing deep or feelable.
Close inspection beneath a halogen desk lamp reveals just a fine 'rainbow sheen' together with & some wispy sleeve removal hairlines.
100% flat on both sides with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT
Oustanding sound quality from this carefully played copy. There is no significant lessening to the sound quality anywhere.
Careful listening at volume, reveals no crackle or groovewear distortion in either channel on any track.
Even the usually worn inner tracks; 'Please, Please Me' and 'Twist & Shout' play clearly & cleanly.
Both run-ins & all bands play extremely quietly and without any clicks or other such intereference.
There are no heavy clicks, jumps, repeats or any other major audible faults anywhere.
Cover: VERY GOOD PLUS
A clean front panel with an undamaged laminante bearing just a few light wrinkles to the edges but no 'thumbnail' creases or any other significant wear.
The lower corners display some light rubbing but are otherwise clean & unbumped. There is some minor wear to the front opening edge only.
The rear shows 2 pin-hole towards the opening edge, a small number written along the lower edge and a water stain in the lower right corner.
All delicate flipbacks are intact and both the seams & the spine are clean, unsplit & undamaged.
All discs are carefully play graded in their entirety on a Rega P9 deck with an Ortofon Kontrapunkt 'A' cartridge.
