THE BEATLES
'SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
EXCELLENT 1969 UK 2nd *MONO* PRESSING LP
This pressing was one of only 3 titles to be issued in in mono in October 1969 on EMI's new '1-EMI-Box' label design. All were produced in extremely small quantities and sold poorly. As a result they are very difficult to locate today.
This copy is on that silver & black '1-EMI-Box' Parlophone label: PMC 7027
Both labels have 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rims
Housed in a fully laminated, inner-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed 'Patents Pending' mono gatefold cover.
Complete with its original plain white 'Patent No 1125555' inner-sleeve & unsued cut-out sheet.
Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1
Stamper numbers: ?/MOA & 6/MPR
Disc weight: 141g
Condition
Labels: EXCELLENT
Visual: EXCELLENT -
Both surfaces are clean, bright & glossy in strong daylight, with just 3 or 4 light surface marks on side 1 and one or two on side 2. However, these are just light fingernail scuff lines, but nothing I would call a scratch. Close examination directly beneath halogen light reveals just a sparkling rainbow shine and some light paper hairlines from inner-sleeve removal. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Play: EXCELLENT -
This copy has received some careful play and is without any significant deterioration to the sound. Apart from a touch of light background on each run-in and a hint of playwear on 'She's Leaving Home', there is little to fault overall. There are no heavy clicks, pops, jumps or any other major audible fault to any track.
Cover
EXCELLENT -
A clean, strong and vibrant example with a superb, unscratched high-gloss front laminate which displays no rubbing, creasing or even any 'thumbnails'. All corners are square & unbumped and both opening edges are sharp & undamaged. Inside is pristine with no wear to any area or to either flipbacks. Small impressions of the name of the singer of each song are visible in a certain light beneath each of the lyrics on the rear panel. There is a small scuff to the lower seam on the rear panel but no splits. The spine retains its laminate and bears an undamaged, complete wording.
