GATEFOLD COVER
The cover is in VG+ condition showing some wear. Inside on the spine is a tear about 1 3/4" long as can be seen in the picture. also there is a light stamp on back that says (MERCH). The accompanying Mono record is in VG++ condition, with gleaming grooves displaying some superficial light wear and scratches that do not affect play. Featuring the Colorband and Brackets VJ Logo label, it has left justified song titles and indented credits and "LONG PLAYING" in two words, rather than the alternate variation printed in one word. Has original record sleeve which is NM condition.
On Aug. 12, 1964, Vee Jay issued an "old" Beatles album, which was a reissue of Introducing the Beatles. This album was moderately successful due to its also being sold at Beatles concerts. The album cover featured the photo from the "I Want to Hold Your Hand" picture sleeve and the four drawings from the VJ 587 picture sleeve. Known fakes have no gatefold.
The back cover leaves no doubt that Vee-Jay was marketing this record for young girls. Below Ringo's color-tinted picture is the phrase "RINGO LOVES" and a blue dash-bordered heart containing the phrase "PICTURE HERE". Similar pictures, language and hearts appear for the other Beatles.
