PLEASE READ IN FULL******.........NEAR EXCELLENT****
A Stereo 1st issue of WTB from XMAS 1963 - an incredibly difficult one to track down as a Beatle collector<SUPER RARITY>. The reason being this is just six months after PPM was released and STEREO, as a format, is still in relative infancy. Making anything from '63 in Stereo - really hard to find - let alone in decent condition. 1st thing to note here - it's not an Oct/Nov copy with Jobete Publishing [absolute earliest]. It most likely dates from immediately after 1st release, but still VERY early. Early enough that the 'DOMION' publishing error shows on Side 2. Heavy-set original pressing. Parlophone perimeter text and 'recording 1st pub' still evident. DO NOTE - the cover is original to Xmas 1963 - but CLEARLY it is the MONO format cover [NOT stereo]. So, a collector could take this on in the short term and, if they were so inclined, could source a stereo cover at a later date. Which is a much easier task as stereo covers look pretty much the same from '63 through to'65. Includes original Emitex. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-) A truly rare original in very nice condition - not abused. A couple of light marks per side - nothing heavy or nasty looking. Plays a straight forward NEAREXCELLENT level with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. No kidding...for '63...for stereo....this is highly impressive. Hardly any background...maybe the odd crackle in the occasional spot. But there is precious little to complain at. A super little player and a really very hard find indeed. The only issue I can find is in the opening licks of Rollover Beethoven....In the 1st couple of seconds.,,.there is sort of a very quick jump...It just sounds like the band stumble and play a bum note. I.e. to be frank it is not really that much of an issue - it's in the 1st couple of seconds of side 2...so VERY liveable.. Give it some serious thought as this opportunity does not come round often - and certainly not at this sort of price.
MONO Cover (Vg) Nice looking front with only a couple of laminate ceases by the opening. A bit of ageing on the rear - but not really unsightly by any means. And it is incredibly hard to find original '63 rears that have avoided some sort of ageing. It's just a truly long shot unfortunately. Flips are all intact and look fine...Spine 90% intact. A two inch bottom edge split tape secured [internally] - so only a minor cosmetic issue. Overall excellent rigidity.
Emitex (Vg) Some ageing. But no splits.
