RARE UNDOCUMENTED LABEL VARIANT, FIRST ‘1’ STAMPERS, SIDE 1 **WITHOUT** SOLD IN UK LABEL TEXT, SIDE 2 LABEL **WITH** SOLD IN UK
This album was issued as the Soundtrack album for the cartoon film ‘Yellow Submarine’although it did not include some of the tracks that were featured in the film. Yellow Submarine spent just two weeks at the No 3 position. At the same time The Beatles White Album was still at No 1.
Album Description and Condition:
This RARE, UNDOCUMENTED Version, dates back to post JULY 1969 at the time that EMI/Apple was in the process of scrapping the record label reference ‘Sold in UK’. This RARE VARIANT is on the traditional Green Apple Label. The side 1 record label is printed with the ‘Apple Records’ label rim, with ‘Mfd in UK’ and WITHOUT ‘Sold in UK….’ label text. The side 2 record label is printed with the ‘Apple Records’ label rim, with ‘Mfd in UK’ but WITH ‘Sold in UK….’ label text. We can only assume that in the case of this brief cross over period, EMI were using up old label stocks before completing moving over to the new design without the ‘Sold in UK’ label reference.
Both record labels are in SUPERB near mint condition. A FINE set of UNDAMAGED record labels, beautiful clear print, and no more than one faint centre spider trail to both labels.
Both sides of the GLEAMING Vinyl Disc are in near mint condition, NEW LOOKING Vinyl Surfaces, with just a couple of insignificant hardly noticeable surface hairlines.
Side 1 matrix: YEX 715-3 and Side 2 YEX 716-1.
Side 1 stampers: 1/R and Side 2: 1/ML.
The album comes in an ORIGINAL Matt Black Die Cut inner bag which is in CLEAN excellent condition, there are NO seam splits or tears to the Die-cut, just a small half inch tear to the bottom left hand corner.
The Vinyl LP is housed in an ORIGINAL, ULTRA GLOSSY, Front LAMINATED Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve, with two Horizontal RED lines either side of the sleeve notes.
The sleeve is an IMPRESSIVE example in STRONG excellent plus condition. This is a particularly NICE sleeve throughout. The front panel still retains its DEEP GLOSS SHINE, with only the mildest record indentation. The reverse panel of the sleeve is BEAUTIFULLY PRESERVED - Very CLEAN, showing only minor age tanning to the opening edge, slight laminate lifting (caused during the manufacturing process) to bottom left corner, and a couple of very mild corner bumps to the bottom two corners. All three flipbacks are UNDAMAGED. The spine edge too is UNDAMAGED and the wording to the spine edge is CLEARLY printed ‘The Beatles Yellow Submarine’.
This is the FIRST TIME we have offered this RARE VARIANT. One for the connoisseur BEATLES or APPLE collector.
