Serious collectors will know the importance of this gem, which you could spend a lifetime trying to find, without success, until now. Not just a much rarer stereo variant, with near mint audio but also the earliest possible EMI stampers. Although impossible to prove, this could have been the first stereo copy ever pressed.
Both sides of the vinyl are in stunning condition and deliver superb, crystal clear audio, with just mild static to the run ins. They have retained their jet black, deep glossy appearance, with no signs of groove wear. There are a few light lines here and there and on the opening track of side 2 there is an almost inaudible, repetitive click, which is not really intrusive enough to spoil any enjoyment. As with most vinyl discs there is the occasional mild pop.
The labels are near perfect, with all text undamaged and the yellow 'Parlophones', vibrant. Each side does display numerous spindle trails, mainly confined to the centre area.
The fragile gatefold sleeve is in fantastic conditiion. One of the most difficult to find in good order, with its flimsy outer leaf, prone to creasing and laminate lift and the 'hinge' often torn, top and bottom. This example is not mint but is in truly fine shape, with no real problems apart from general ageing. The spine has no missing laminate and still has its 'pinched' ends, fully intact. The front and back panels have a few very mild creases but there are no pressure lines or dents and the surfaces are smooth and glossy.
The 'patents applied for' Emitex polythene lined inner sleeve, with its heavier grade paper, is near mint, only suffering from age toning.
All in all, an unmissible opportunity to own a very, very rare Beatles item.
I have other Beatles items listed, please take a look.
