Beatles-Rel. SEALED John Lennon 45 Mother 1970 First Pressing Apple NM!
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
Hard to part with, beautiful store stock NM copy of John’s 1970 single, “Mother” with Yoko’s “Why” on the flipside. 45 is still sealed in a “The Beatles on Apple” company sleeve. This is the first pressing, which is evident by the “Mfd. By Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer at the bottom of the Side 2 label. Second pressings moved that disclaimer to the Side 1 label in 1971, as well as adding the word, “MONO” to some copies. Judging by the text layout, this appears to be a Scranton pressing.
Sleeve: VG+. In the main, still a nice sleeve. No splits. It remains sealed by the 79 cents price sticker. There is some wear, mainly in the form of wrinkles and record outdent, but not bad at all. There are a light amount of serration impressions on both sides, as well as a moderate amount of white wear from them on just the Side 2 of the sleeve.
Vinyl: NM/ NM presumably. Not having been removed from the sleeve in 53 years, there will have been next to no opportunity for scratches to have developed. Should be in store stock NM condition.
Labels: NM/ NM.
Plates: No way of knowing unless the sleeve is opened.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
