The song by Black Uhuru " I Love King Selassie appears on many albums and in many versions...........Mostly they are different versions of the original recording. Having compared and contrasted for a long time I have to conclude that this track on this 7" is a different recording altogether of this song and not just another remix. It has a lot of horns and a different backing and vocal track..........still the same song and just as hard and rootsy but a different recording...........I can find no info as to when this was recorded and who exactly was in the band at the time.......It is definitely Michael Rose on vocals for sure. I have found a clip of this version here http://yardies-shack.heteml.jp/musics/mykingforever.mp3 The only guide is the 1985 date on the label so I assume that this may have been redone then at which time the line up would still have been....Michael Rose, Duckie Simpson and Puma Jones. The matrix number is DSR 4640 and 4681......although very hard to see as the label covers part of the etching. As it is on Jammys label then as by this time Uhuru were working with Sly And Robbie it is possible that this version had been in Jammy's vaults since the 70's when the original was recorded and was put out to capitalize on their world wide fame at the time? This is mega rare.........There are no copies for sale anywhere else and it hardly ever comes up for sale. The vinyl is visually graded as very good with no marks or scuffs, both labels are clean and mark free. The record plays very well with no pops or crackles and no surface noise, very very good for a Jamaican pressing.
