RARE and sought 1971 original with cool die-cut specially designed cover ...This is a very scarce "promotional" collectible by the mysterious figurehead musician who delivered brilliant flowing melodies in "Coming From Reality"
A gritty street wise singer/guitarist songwriter, Rodriguez recently had this album reissued due to an overflow of collector demand ... The Detroit underground artist blossoms with compelling tales from the reality of life in the city, working the small clubs and bar dives featuring vivid lyrical painted pictures behind sparse, but great playing that includes the masterful splatter guitarist Chris Spedding ('Battered Ornaments', etc)
Recorded in 1971 London with producer Steve Rowland, a former Hollywood actor, Coming From Reality opens with a stunner; "Climb Up on My Music" ~ an infectious organ-heavy Steppenwolf/Santana jam with a screaming guitar riff which will get the listeners attention in a hurry followed by "Halfway Up the Stairs" exuding a sweet mellow groove full of good vibes. Rodriguez delivers some pointed observations on other tracks like "A Most Disgusting Song", a droll, narration told from the vantage point of a dive bar...
So a mystery was born and a mysterious lost album was sought after many years after its release. Record shops started getting bombarded with requests for "Coming From Reality" from young collectors who weren't even born when "Climb Up On My Music" was an underground hit. Word got around that Polygram couldn't re-release it because they had absolutely nothing. The masters were missing. They didn't even have a copy of the LP. There were no concrete cold facts about the artist known as Rodriguez. It is not known if he is even alive or dead. Any musicologist detectives out there?
The answer: The Rodriguez story keeps gathering pace. A Swedish documentary company are working on a feature length documentary about the enigmatic performer's life and music, and Rodriguez is planning to bring his live show to the UK and Europe come Spring/Summer, along with further North America touring.
"It's an extraordinary trip," says Rodriguez of his new lease on life. "It feels like Picasso, Monet. All these exciting new thoughts coming at me. It's global. I'm lucky to have this second chance. It's very real and totally unexpected."

CONDITION: The trippy gimmix gatefold sleeve has a small promotional sticker at bottom left which enhances the value ... the seams are strong, the track listings are circled by thin pen (nothing bad) otherwise tight and sound, looks great "EX" (excellent), would have been M- if not for DJ radio station 'highlights'
The vinyl is clean VG++ to "EX" (excellent), at worse some light, thin and short hairline scuffs, that's all, vast majority of both sides has clear smooth grooves....
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
