Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. The USA "Atco" release of this album has become a scarce find but rarely ever does the original 1975 Dutch pressing (with superior / different cover art) and on the Negram label -  never available on these shores ... The very first FINCH album features eye-opening tracks on either side - not a dull moment on the entire Lp which is pretty special...

The foundation of Dutch progrock band FINCH was laid by bass player Peter Vink and drummer Beer Klaasse (both main members of the legendary blues-psych band Q'65 ). They were eager to play progressive music: Peter was impressed by progressive rock and BEER by the improvised rock of CREAM. After some sessions and failed efforts to find a good singer, the new band switched to a powerful instrumentation sound with this line-up: Peter Vink (bass), Beer Klaasse (drums), the 19 year old "guitar virtuoso" Joop van Nimwegen and keyboard player Paul Vink. With two Vink's in the band the name became FINCH, (the English translation from this Dutch name.) The EMI sub-label Negram was willing to invest in the new progrock bands, so in the mid '70s this resulted in the first FINCH album "Glory of the Inner Force" (worldwide sold 20.000 copies). Drenched in the creative interplay of keyboads playing off of guitarist Joop's captivating lead runs - and the first album was hailed highly by the music press and collectors around the world.

"Glory & The Inner Force" is a masterpiece of progressive rock, delivering complex and fulfilling moods and grooves. The musicianship and playing of this band is highly energetic and highly efficient. Mellotron fans will love the keyboard talents who also adds some tasty Hammond and moog.

All the tracks are uniformly strong but special mention must go to some of the highlights as follows:

Pisces - has a truly cinematic LOOK BEHIND YOU ! intro and the friction induced by the ostinato guitar dischord is a real goosebump raiser. There follows a complex keyboard solo which would even elicit a grin of satisfaction reflecting some of the latter's work with Miles Davis. The slow and moody breakdown section illustrates that Finch have a firm grasp of one of the more elusive elements in prog, i.e. less is more

A Bridge to Alice - Straight from the top shelf of "ominous & creepy" to be filed under 'uneasy listening' for sure. The breadth of stylistic changes on this track alone is mind blowing and encompasses strident rock riffing, swinging jazz and European classical phrasings as motivitic sources. Van Nimwegan reveals his most overtly & sublimely beautiful ethereal guitar section.

Overall this is a very strong album and should be all the evidence needed that the Netherlands has made a significant contribution to the '70s progressive-rock scene.

CONDITION: The cover: Very fragile Dutch cover is VG++ only because of light crinkles at bottom left corner, otherwise lightly laminated and clean ... no alarming problems and overall a keeper collectible, just not quite mint.

The vinyl: very clean, in fact it is MINT ... looks to have not been played more than a couple times ... smootyh and clear over both sides...clean Negram labels
