Description
In 1971 Island Records/Bronze tried an experiment with just a few Double LPs (eg.El Pea), the idea was to place a Styrofoam Edge on the inner sleeve so that as the record was pulled it cleaned the dust off, what it actually did was damage the edge of the vinyl which in turn affected play badly. The majority of copies suffer from this problem, which is why the copy I have for sale is so rare as it is near mint and the records play superbly plus the very fragile sleeve is also in top condition (see photos)
Vinyl Grading (NM) under bright LED lights both discs show only very light wear, no bad edge scuffing at all, I personally think it would be hard to better these vinyls (they have been stored separately from the sleeve, thus the condition) matrix Side 1 ICD1-1-A-1U, Side 2 ICD1-1-B-1U, Side 3 ICD2-1-A-1U, Side 4 ICD2-1-B-2U
Label Grading - Clean Labels - No visible spindle lines showing complete lack of play
Sleeve Grading (Ex+/NM) Original Matt single card gatefold sleeve with cellophane/plastic inners still firmly attached, minimal wear, never seen better (Please see photos for complete overview)
Packing Details – Every record will have the following:
- Records placed separate from sleeve to avoid knifing
- Sleeve and Vinyl placed in Polythene outer
- 2x 12” Card stiffeners to protect from bending
- Sealed in bubble wrap for extra protection
- placed in cruciform professional record mailer
- Quality Corner protection
Gradings: I use the standard UK gradings as set out in UK Record Collector Magazine below:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Near Mint, EX+, VG+ etc are acceptable additions to help `fine tune` descriptions for the buyer
