Description

Here is a lovely copy of one of the most bewitching albums of all time. Challenging acid/prog/folk ... call it what you will, First Utterance is a unique and remarkable achievement, understandably overlooked (perhaps misunderstood) at birth but now rightly way up there at the top of everyone's wants list ... terribly rare and hugely sought after.

This is a fine original UK keeper copy of First Utterance by Comus on Dawn (DNLS 3019) from 1971. The disc itself looks gorgeous and plays perfectly with precision and clarity. It's a bright clean glossy EX with a near perfect pair of those lovely original deep orange and black Dawn labels, with only minor spindle marks betraying minimal signs of use ... maybe fewer than a dozen clearly very careful plays in its life. Even under the intensity of unforgiving halogen lighting I can see no untoward marks on either of these two fine playing surfaces ( and I'm pretty meticulous). This disc is an easy EX.

The unlaminated gatefold sleeve with its monochrome outer design is more vulnerable than most to abuse but this example is a well cared for VG-plus with no sticker tears, rips, unwanted writing, burn marks or beer stains. The white background of the outer gatefold is largely clean with just a few minor blemishes here and there (a hint of ringwear, upper rear, for instance). There is also a little minor chipping of the spine but all the text is clear and readable and the colourful inner gatefold is in excellent shape, as you would expect. As you can see from the photos this is a fine example of what can all too easily end up as a worn, badly damaged, grubby and abused unlaminated gatefold sleeve.

Comus: First Utterance is one of THE true gems of the '60s/70s era - experimental, imaginative, unique. Good luck if you are bidding.
