Any other information: A highlight of Mingus' run of classic albums from the late 1950s- early 60s, this defnitive work features John Handy & Booker Ervin on saxes, trombonist Willie Dennis, pianist Horace Parlan and drummer Dannie Richmond on an excellent set of compositions including the gospelly Better Get It In Your Soul and the wistful Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, dedicated to the late Lester Young. This issue is a mono Canadian pressing, with a few marks and hairlines. We have play tested it and there are a few minor clicks but it generally plays really well. 5 star rating on Allmusic: "a stunning summation of the bassist's talents and probably the best reference point for beginners... It simply isn't possible to single out one Mingus album as definitive, but Mingus Ah Um comes the closest."

Our Grading System
Please note that we use our own grading system which is more nuanced than the standard system. If there is anything you do not understand then please let us know. All our items have been visually graded beneath a down-facing halogen lamp. We have found that this has proven extremely effective. For higher value items, we give them a further audible play-grading.
