THIS IS AN AUCTION FOR THE VERY RARE FIRST PRESSING OF DAVID BOWIE'S LP-HUNKY DORY RELEASED ON RCA IN THE UK IN 1971. THIS COPY IS IN COMPLETE CONDITION WITH THE LAMINATE SLEEVE AND LYRIC INSERT.
THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED IN DECEMBER 1971 AT A TIME WHEN DAVID BOWIE WAS VIRTUALLY A COMPLETE UNKNOWN. SALES OF THE LPS WERE AS POOR AS HIS PREVIOUS LP AND IT WAS QUICKLY DELETED AFTER ONLY SELLING IN TINY AMOUNTS. IT WASNT UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1972 ,AFTER THE MASSIVE SUCCESS OF THE 'ZIGGY STARDUST' LP, WHEN THIS LP WAS THEN RE-ISSUED AND RE-DISTRUBUTED . HOWEVER, THE RE-ISSUE COPIES OF THIS LP THAT SOLD IN LARGE AMOUNTS IN LATE 1972 WERE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TO THIS FOR 3 MAIN REASONS;-
1- FIRST ISSUES HAVE A LAMINATED SLEEVE.
2-THE LABELS ARE SHINY AND HAVE DIFFERENT CREDITS
3-FIRST PRESSES HAVE NO MAINMAN CREDITS.
THIS COPY HAS ALL THE ABOVE. THE LAMINATE SLEEVE IS IN VERY GOOD+ CONDITION WITH SOME SMALL LAMINATE LIFT AROUND THE EDGES AND SOME MINOR STORAGE WEAR TO THE CORNERS AND SPINE. IT STILL LOOKS SUPERB AND FAR FAR BETTER THAN THE REISSUE. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PHOTO'S.
THE VINYL IS IN EXCELLENT+ CONDITION. IT HAS RETAINED AN EXCELLENT SHEEN AND LOOKS REALLY GOOD. THERE ARE 2-3 VERY FINE SUPERFICIAL MARKS VISIBLE UNDER A STRONG LIGHT BUT THESE DO NOT DETRACT.IT HAS THE FIRST PRESS MATRIX OF APRS 5947 3T APRS 5948 3T, WITH BOBIL AND RASPUTIN WRITTEN IN THE RUNOUT GROOVES.
I HAVE PLAYED THE LP AT HIGH VOLUME AND IT SOUNDS GREAT.IT SITS NICE AND FLAT ON THE TURNTABLE AND PLAYS THROUGH WITHOUT ANY SKIPS OR JUMPS. THE SOUND IS CLEAR AND VIBRANT AND I AM HAPPY TO GRADE THE AUDIO AS EXCELLENT++ AT LEAST.
THE LYRIC INSERT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AS ARE THE LABELS.
OVERALL A REALLY NICE COPY OF A VERY RARE LP

The Lp will be sent in professional mailers and will be sent in the Uk recorded/special delivery at a cost of £2.50. I will pay the extra. The cost of postage in Europe is £8.00 and will include international signed for as mandatory . Anyone bidding who does not have feedback will have their bid cancelled straight away. I am very sorry about this but this is due to problems experienced in the past. Anyone without feedback and who wants to bid please contact me first.
Grading:- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc
