DEEP PURPLE - THE BOOK OF TALIESYN

A brilliant copy of this 1968 UK 1st press prog rock classic with gleaming vinyl and superb sound quality throughout.

Year/Label :  UK HARVEST

Label number :  SHVL 751

Matrix numbers :  SHVL 751 A - 1G   /  SHVL 751 B - 1G

Stampers :  1 M  /  1 H

Rare and highly collectible 1968 UK 1st press rock gem.  Gleaming, truly excellent (EX) condition vinyl (some would grade as "excellent plus", I am sure) retaining a gorgeous jet black sheen with both sides of the vinyl coming across as completely unmarked in normal daylight. Closer inspection under a bright light reveals just a couple of extremely wispy fine hairlines and equally faint paper scuffs - barely detectable and obviously purely superficial.  Each label is near mint (NM) with all text and the iconic HARVEST logo remaining perfectly intact, and completely unmarked apart from just a few small and very faint spindle trails on each. Note the absence of the "EMI" text and the presence of the four line "SOLD IN U.K.....SEE PRICE LISTS" on each label, indicating the rarer very 1st UK press variant.  The beautiful front & reverse-side laminated original Ernest J. Day outer sleeve is again in excellent (EX) condition with firm, completely unscuffed edges and a rigid spine with all spine text remaining fully intact, near perfectly defined right angled corners with minimal rubbing on each, no cardboard creasing, and all colours, art work, photos and text remaining impressively intact with rich vibrancy and crystal clear, crisp definition. The only blemishes (each extremely minor) are a few non-obvious 1-2cm light laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the front edges (you will have to look closely to spot them), and a light 3cm score line towards the reverse side bottom edge.  Superb, excellent plus (EX+) sound quality with no skips, repeats, jumps, distortion, clicks or background crackle...simply fantastic tone with crystal clear vocals and instrumentation and every track a brilliant listen.  Comes complete with original plain white "PATENT APPLIED FOR" and "MADE IN ENGLAND" excellent (EX) condition inner sleeve, with no side splits, tears, edge fraying or age discolouration, and barely any creasing, just a couple of very light handling/storage marks.

Such a wonderful rock record, too often overlooked due to the sheer brilliance of the ensuing "In Rock" and "Machine Head" albums, but nevertheless remaining an important component of the wonderful Deep Purple back catalogue and a "must" for any serious rock vinyl collection.

For the UK £5 using Royal Mail first class signed for;

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
