Legendary 60's R&B band The Downliners Sect & Thee Headcoats – 'Thee Headcoats Sect' - one of the various band names assumed by garage rock primitive Billy Childish
Contemporaries of the Rolling Stones and Yardbirds, the Downliners Sect was formed by deerstalker-hatted rhythm guitarist Don Craine in the spring of 1963. Their raw brand of R&B had a huge following in the British Blues Boom of the 1960's.
Rip rouring Rhythm and Blues with a blend of punk experience. Billy's entry into Sherlock Holmes country, excellent band with influences from the equally excellent Downliner Sect. Blues and punk combined to form one of Billy's best records to date.
(Although this was issued in 1996 I've listed this in 1960s as it might appeal to real R&B fans.)
