Whilst the the original single by David Bowie with the Lower Third is rare enough, this is even more exclusive as it is an "ADVANCE PROMOTION COPY", under the name of "David Bowie" alone.
The 'B side' is entitled, "And I Say to Myself".
The 'A side' record label bears a stamp with the date of "14 JAN", which seems to tie-in with the release date of 14 January 1966 for the single by David Bowie with the Lower Third. I can only assume this 'Advance Promotion Copy' originated from the 'promo launch' on 6 January 1966 at the Gaiety Bar, Bayswater.
The only other copy I have ever seen of this 'Advance Promotion Copy' (sold on eBay some six years ago) also bears a date stamp for "14 JAN".
There is no accompanying record sleeve (although it will be posted with one for protection) and the record needs a good clean. However, I am not attempting to clean it even with a damp cloth as I wouldn't be sure I wasn't damaging the originality.
Great news is that I've played both sides once this morning (first time it's been played in some thirty plus years) and there doesn't seem to be even a single scratch on either side.
It's a quite brilliant example of the iconic foundation that Bowie was to lay.
I hope this finds a home with someone who appreciates that.
