Description

This really is a most unusual and collectable David Bowie item from the fascinating pre-Ziggy period. You are bidding on two documents. The first would appear to be a press notice regarding the November 1969 release of David Bowie's second LP in the UK. It measures approximately 10x8 inches and is printed in blue ink on thin paper. It includes full credits for the upcoming album which, without having my Philips LP to hand, I believe were changed. Barry Sheffield is named as an engineer... not sure if his name made it to the final sleevenotes? Maybe you'd like to check. Anyway... the second document measures about 10" by 15" and is a composite of all the lyrics from the LP under the title "Songs By David Bowie". The lettering is small and so a scan would not show it to best advantage. The sheet is folded down the middle and, unlike the press notice, has very light creases along one edge. It's on similar stock and printed with similar ink. It matches, very closely, the appearance of the Purcell Room 1969 flyer which previously appeared on eBay and it's my belief that all three documents were probably mailed together with original promos for the LP way back in 1969. A big push for David! I bought these documents from somebody who had been friends with a former employee of Philips and that's where the items came from. I've been a Bowie collector for many years and I haven't seen one of these before. Interesting stuff. Anyway, save for the creases mentioned previously, both these documents are in EX+ condition. The darkening you can see on the corners is a result of my dodgy scanner and is not a blemish on the item itself. Shipping costs are £4 to the US, £3 to Europe, £2 to the UK, £5 to Japan and rest of the world. Please check out my other auctions!
