Description

An original 1st press of BURN on the UK Purple label. Matrix A1/B1 - 1st cut. 1-AO/2-GT. Etching "Pecko Mel Trish" [indicative of 1st press]. In spring 1974 [at the time of 1st release] EMI were switching the perimeter text from Gramophone to EMI. Very earliest copies will exhibit 2 X Gramphone on the labels. Around 1st issue, as they started the switch to EMI, others will be found with 1 X EMI and 1 X Gramophone - as you find here. For those who get a bit hooked on the whole 'it must have 2 X Gramophone' - it is worth remembering that the early 1st issues were produced in high volume over the same time period. Some 1 X EMI/1 X Gramophone copies are actually 'technically' earlier pressings than some 2 X Gramophone! So, what's so good about the early copies? This copy has the vinyl weight and audio authority of those early 1st pressings. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover. We also have the original generic white inner sleeve. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete. 
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are just a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and clean and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. As good a rendition of BURN as I've witnessed. It's got all the power and authority you need - with the detail. The solid pressing is certainly helping along with super preservation levels. Plays clean as a whistle and there's little to find fault with. At worst a few slight crackles in one isolated spot per side. A beaut for sure..
Cover (Ex-) In rather rude health and is not exhibiting the heavy wear or discolouration you find on many copies. Clean front and rear with only light surface wear evident at the rear opening. Very little edge wear for this title. The spine is 100% intact [superb!]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits.
