Description
One copy of an estimated pressing of 300 copies in Italy circa 1982, Diamanda Galas not only considered it the most rare item in her discography, but she also deemed the recording quality to be commendable (not an exact quote).
One side is a live, unofficial private recording of Baudelaire's The Litanies of Satan. You can hear a brief postlude of applause at the end of the track. It's quite different from the official first release in 1982 as well as the recent remastering released just a few years ago. It is indeed a document of a performance not captured elsewhere that anyone is aware of to this day.
The other side (this is a white label pressing so there's no A/B side markings) is a suite of again live, private recordings of almost the entire suite from Eyes Without Blood, that was first performed at the Pepsico Summer Festival in upstate New York in the '80s.
There is no other commercially or privately available recording of Eyes Without Blood, except for an excerpt taken from the premiere and featured on Diamonds Hidden In the Mouth of a Corpse. These recordings will not likely ever appear in remastered form as these recordings were made privately.
The cardboard jacket has some minor wear defects commensurate with its age, but no tears and only very faint ringwear.The vinyl has been stored in a poly, anti-static sleeve that I replaced the paper one with when I received it.
The vinyl record has some foxing on both sides of the label as one might see with an album of its age. The vinyl is clean and in excellent condition. There is only one very brief skip at the beginning of Litanies, at least when played on my turntable. I've only played it two or three times, as I have a CD pressing of it I obtained from a private source some 10 years ago. That CD is not for sale.
Otherwise, the vinyl plays fine and if you have the loudspeakers set up for it in quadrophonic sound, there's nothing like it to be heard anywhere.
