Description
ELVIS PRESLEY – “ELVIS’ GOLDEN RECORDS” (LPM-1707), an ORIGINAL 1958 PRESSING With No “RE” on Back
RECORD: VG++ (EXC) with beautiful, original gloss! There are just a few very light surfaces scuffs that should have absolutely no effect on the audible performance. In fact, I test-played two of the tracks on Side 1 in which one of the light scuffs that is visible in one of my photos, runs across (“LOVING YOU” & “ALL SHOOK UP”). RCA Victor's “New Orthophonic High Fidelity” stands resilient! The sound quality is amazing and clear as new. I see no reason why the remainder of this Hollywood pressing should not play just as well. The labels are very clean and original with just some light spindle marks noticed. This album was released in April of 1958 and includes all of Elvis’ big 1950’s hits that we all know and love. The matrix numbers end with 10S/10S.
COVER: VG++ (EXC) with absolutely no seam splits, tape, writing or staple holes anywhere. An extremely clean cover, well preserved for 58 years! There is just some very light ring wear seen on the front as well as a tiny corner bump to the upper right tip. This is the much more scarce cover variety that has no “RE” following the record number (LPM-1707) on the back! The reason that “RE” was added to later covers was due to a change in the wording in the last paragraph to the lower left on the back side. On this cover, it states “After thirty-one grueling ‘takes’, a satisfactory master was finally made…”. On the “RE” cover, it states “After several rehearsal ‘takes’, a satisfactory master was finally made”. Unless it is absolute perfection that one is looking for, this album should satisfy the vast majority of collectors seeking to complete their high-end collection of Elvis Presley records.
INNER SLEEVE: The original RCA Victor inner sleeve from the era that lists this album on the back side along with many other RCA Victor LP’s of the era.
