COMMENTS: AS FAR AS I CAN DETERMINE, THIS IS THE ORIGINAL FIRST EMI UK PRESSING OF THIS HIGHLY SOUGHT COLLECTIBLE. ODEON LABEL STICKERS WERE REQUIRED TO OBSCURE THE HMV NIPPER LOGO ON THE UK LABEL FOR LEGAL EXPORT OF EMI RECORDINGS TO THE USA DUE TO COPYRIGHT ISSUES WITH RCA. TYPICALLY, THESE BLACK PAPER LABELS WERE SIMPLY GLUED OVER THE STANDARD UK EMI/HMV DISC LABELS WITH A WATER-BASED ADHESIVE. THEY WERE NOT A SEPARATE, PARALLEL PRODUCTION AS WITH DECCA/LONDON RELEASES. I HAVE HAD GOOD SUCCESS REMOVING SUCH STICKERS BY MOISTENING THEM WITH ORDINARY GLASS CLEANER SUCH AS WINDEX. THE JACKET LABELS ARE OFTEN METALIZED, AND ARE MORE DIFICULT (BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE) TO REMOVE. HOWEVER, DUE TO THE VALUE OF THIS PARTICULAR ITEM, I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE OVER-LABELS. I CAN PROVIDE A JPEG DEMONSTRATING LABEL REMOVAL FROM A DIFFERENT TITLE UPON REQUEST.

Having recently moved cross country to a smaller home, I am currently downsizing a 8,000 LP collection (67% classical, the rest jazz, folk, and audiophile) acquired over 35 years of active searching, listening, and upgrading. I am not a dealer...these recordings are from my personal collection, and generally represent the best version of each title I have encountered.

Because of the number of records involved, I can only grade discs and jackets visually. I grade conservatively but realistically: the highest grade I will give an unsealed disc whose surfaces are pristine and unmarked is NM. A NM- grade indicates a disc with very minor visible evidence of use (usually described) that should not seriously interfere with audition. A VG+ disc will have visible surface wear (a scratch, scuff, or sleeve-grit mark that I expect would be intrusively audible) but should play through without skipping. I will only list VG+ and lower records when the titles are rare and in great demand. However, given the variable quality of vintage vinyl pressings, even a NM disc may suffer from occasional tics.


Similarly, ratings for jacket condition are for overall appearance, with typical problems like seam splits, ringwear, and WOBC (writing on back cover) noted separately.

If requested, I will clean records on my VPI 16.5 prior to shipping for an additional $1/disc. I ship single records in sleeve, out of jacket (to minimize seam splits) in proper LP mailers. Boxed sets are shipped with records inside. Contact me if additional information is needed.
