Exile on Main St. is a double album by The Rolling Stones. It was released on 12 May 1972 on Rolling Stones Records. The album’s music incorporates rock and roll, blues, soul, country, and gospel genres. Although it originally received mixed reviews, Exile on Main St. is generally considered by music critics to be the Rolling Stones’ greatest album. The album is currently ranked 14th on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, the highest Rolling Stones album ranked on the list.
