Description
The Exkursions featured guitarist Mike Johnson, original member of Mike Bloomfield Blues Band, as well as Electric Flag and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Their album is very early Christian bluesy hard rock with healthy doses of fuzz, ala Hendrix and Cream. Here’s an excerpt from Acid Archives about this record: “Pretty irresistible Christian bluesy guitar-psych featuring the prolific Mike Johnson in his younger days as a bible-carrying Hendrix epigone. Has to be one of the coolest xian LPs of all time, with a confident power trio groove, laidback Jimi-style vocals, and several truly great tracks like "Third Eye".” And: “Mike Johnson is a truly talented guitarist and a few songs here have a fuzz sound to die for… one of the best in the Christian realm.” Released privately in the U.S. (no label listed) in 1971. This is the ORIGINAL pressing and it’s a beautiful SEALED copy. The tune “It's Been Set Down” has a nice “breakbeat” at the intro (lasts about 30 seconds!), which was edited out of the re-issue! The reserve on this item is $74.99.
