Description
Collectors, here is a wonderful disc, Edison Diamond Disc #51526, circa spring 1929. Tenor Charles Harrison sings two ballads from motion pictures, with orchestra: "My Tonia" and "I'll Always Be in Love with You". "Love" was recorded on May 16, 1929. Lovely melodies and operatic style singing, very enjoyable. The record plays well with little surface noise: there are no edge chips, and the labels are firmly attached to the record.
According to Mr. Sutton's book on Blue Amberol cylinders, "I'll Always Be in Love with You" was scheduled to be issued in July 1929 as cylinder #5726. Cylinder production was suspended on July 6, 1929, and cylinders #5720 to #5732 were never issued. The Diamond Disc was on sale for only a few months, as record production was ended on October 31, 1929. Folks, this is a really rare record! My buy it now price is reasonable in comparison to recent eBay auctions for similar records, go for it!
