Original copies (as this one is) of this album were issued with a 'self cleaning' device, which was going to become standard (though it never did). This consisted of the inner edges of the sleeve openings for the records (that had no inner paper sleeves) having strips of soft foam adhered to them, so that when you took the records out or put them back in, they would automatically have any fluff or dust removed from their surfaces. This idea was not very effective, as the foam strips would eventually go dry and the adhesive would fail with constant use, and would eventually be such a nuisance that the only thing to do was discard them and put the records in paper sleeves. The increasingly dry foam strips would also make surface scuffs on the discs. Not well thought through!
