Description
- Very rare 1956 German pressing self-titled first LP “Elvis Presley“ (RCA LPM 1254) with “Manufactured In Germany” in the dead wax and a diamond stamp on the lower left back cover indicating it was sold only to US armed forces stationed in Germany.
- This is one of the “holy grails“ of Elvis collectibles.
- This is not the same pressing meant for sale on the German economy but a special (and unusually heavy for the time) vinyl pressing made in Germany specifically for US troops stationed there.
- The monaural “long-play” label is different from the standard US label (see picture). Although the label states “Made In The USA” and all liner notes, credits and tracklist are in English, in reality the LP was “Manufactured In Germany” as stated in the trail-off dead wax.
- The cover (dated 1956) has the same graphics and printing as the US copy except it has the diamond stamp on the lower left back corner and is printed on lighter card stock.
- The tracklist is: Blue Suede Shoes/I’m Counting On You/I Got A Woman/One Side Love Affair/I Love You Because/Just Because/Tutti Frutti/Tryin’ To Get To You/I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry/I’ll Never Let You Go/Blue Moon/Money Honey.
- The glossy LP has some sleeve scuffs and several light scratches but it plays much better than it looks with crisp, clear fidelity. You should expect some surface noise and an occasional light audible tic but none of it overwhelms the playback. I’m unable to see even one spindle mark on the near mint labels. The front cover is in excellent condition. The back cover shows some wear and aging but the graphics and printing are perfectly clear. The seams show some wear and there is a small 1 1/2 inch split near the bottom opening. In addition, it looks like the seams might have at one time had some protective tape on them that has since been removed.
- All in all this is an excellent copy of a quite rare Elvis collectible.
- NO reserve. I ship worldwide and will combine winning bids to save on postage (check out my other items!).
- In the US, the winning bidder pays choice of media mail ($4.00) or priority shipping (based on ZIP code). Airmail to Canada is $8.00. Airmail shipping and handling to all other locations outside the US is $15.00. Good luck!
