HELLO TO ALL! I’M BACK!
AFTER A BREAK OF SEVERAL MONTHS FOR HEALTH-RELATED REASONS, I’M BACK TO CONTINUE TO BRING YOU MORE BEATLES AND ROCK & ROLL VINYL AND MEMORABILIA!
Here is a WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL LP for vinyl collectors or Eric Clapton folks.
As you probably know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS were ONLY released by record companies to the radio stations and DJs for on-air play or to VIPs in the music industry. They were produced in very small/limited quantities, and they were NOT available for sale to the general public; therefore, they are valued more by vinyl collectors. Often, certain promotional records are particularly hard-to-find and have become highly sought after by collectors and especially by the fans of certain recording artists and/or bands.
In this auction:
-
“ERIC CLAPTON” self-titled LP by Eric Clapton
-
This was Eric Clapton’s FIRST SOLO LP.
-
It is ATCO (Atlantic) RECORDS SD 33-329 that was released in 1970.
-
It is a WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL ISSUE on the ORIGINAL ATCO (Atlantic) RECORDS LABEL (NOT the more common RSO Records promo label of the later re-issue of this LP.)
-
The LP has some GREAT cuts including “After Midnight”, “Blues Power”, “Bottle of Red Wine”, and “Let It Rain” just to name a few.
-
The COVER is in STRONG GOOD PLUS (G+) to VG CONDITION with moderate overall wear. Light to moderate wear is visible on the front slick primarily at the top and bottom center and near the spine. The rear cover slick has light partial ring wear. There is cracking and flaking on the spine with a 1 ¼ -inch bare spot that shows the underlying cardboard. There is also flaking on the bottom seam with a repaired seam split, a small “push” on the bottom right corner and “balding” on 3 corners. There are a few thin horizontal bubbles that show wear on the right edge of the rear cover slick, but this is a minor production/manufacturing flaw that occurred when the rear slick was applied.
-
There is an ORANGE CIRCULAR STICKER with black print on the front cover that reads “Promotional Copy NOT FOR SALE”
-
The VINYL is on the WEAK SIDE of VERY GOOD (VG) CONDITION. There are numerous light to moderate surface hairlines/scuffs with most being NOT “feel-able”; however, there are 2-3 small hairlines on Side 1 that are slightly “feel-able” that result in some surface noise (pops). (I checked this by tracking/playing part of that side on my Technics turntable tracking at ½ gram.) But the VINYL still has LOTS OF GLOSS.
-
The WHITE PROMO LABELS are CLEAN (with NO tape, NO tears, NO writing, NO stickers and NO sticker stains); however, they do show some very light age-spotting/”foxing”.
An ORIGINAL PROMO ISSUE OF ERIC CLAPTON’S LANDMARK FIRST SOLO LP for someone’s vinyl collection!
FYI: I use Goldmine Grading Standards (P for Poor, F for Fair, G for Good, G+ for Good Plus, VG for Very Good, VG+ for Very Good Plus, NM for Near Mint, M for Mint) to VISUALLY GRADE this LP, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding. Please ask any questions BEFORE bidding. And please check my other auctions for MORE PROMOTIONAL VINYL you may want to add to your collection.
